Days off
The time working is passing so fast and it is time for some relax. So it came the moment for our days off. The last week it was Easter, so the chef gave us three free days. I expected them so much because I was eager to get to know Italy and especially the region of Tuscany. The village where we are living is too small and there is not so much to do. So we decided to go to the nearest big city - Siena. In spite of the fact that it was our day off we had to get up early - at seven in the morning - in order to catch the only bus that goes to Siena. It took us a bit less than an hour to get there but this time passed so fast because there were so beautiful views during the journey that took my breath away. I was so impressed by the Tuscany nature and I really expected to see what a typical Tuscan city looks like.
So, we got off the bus at the last bus stop which is next to the train station and the shopping mall. We wanted to see the Old city, so we entered the mall and numerous elevators took us up to the beginning of the Old city. We had to walk about half an hour to get to the famous Piazza del Campo. We passed by amazing buildings and walked on narrow streets. The unique architecture of the city and the kind and positive people create such a special atmosphere, typical for Italy. The euphonious Italian speech was surrounding us everywhere and this contributed more color to the city. It was impossible not to try some typical Italian food. We found a small pasticceria with a huge variety of appetising pastries and desserts. I tried cannoli with chocolate cream and this was amazing delicious experience. Then we sat in a cafe located on Piazza del Campo. The feeling was amazing, the sun was shining nicely, the pigeons were walking around us and we were listening the sound of the water falling down in the near fountain. So it came the time to go because there was only one bus to Palazzetto, the village in which we are staying at the moment.
But we visited this amazing town one more time. We saw the wonderful impressive cathedral and had a lovely experience in this memorable city. For Easter we prepared a special dinner. While we were in Siena we did some shopping, so it was possible to get closer to the Bulgarian traditions for this holiday. We cooked roasted lamb with spices. Despite of the fact that we couldn't find pigments to color our Easter eggs, we decorated them nicely in a plate with flowers. And to finish our dinner we tried the typical Italian Easter cake with orange zest. So we had a nice evening celebrating Easter in spite of being far from home. And so... our days off finished and it's time for work....
