Birthday
Birthday - that day of the year when everybody should feel special. It is celebrated in many ways - on different places, with a lot of friends or just with a special for you person, organising a big party or a simple dinner at home. Everybody should choose his own way of celebrating according to what makes them happy. Many people choose Borgo Santo Pietro for their own birthday. Usually they come with no ore than 2 or 3 people and instead of eating from the gourmet desserts they order birthday cakes and we give our best to make them.
But one of the birthdays was very different and impressive. The whole complex was rented for 3 days in order to be celebrated the birthday of a quite wealthy person. Of course , the food is one of the most important things take this holiday more special and memorable. So, the team of Meo Modo by Andrea Mattei had this great responsibility. For the first dinner there was a specially created menu with 3 dishes from each type and everyone could choose according to their preferences. The first dessert that we prepared was with chocolate cream, crispy amaranth and honey vinegar mousse. The more fresh one was Semifredo with pistachio and pistachio ice cream. But the most chosen dessert was red berries mousse with vanilla sauce.
The following day all 25 people were in the Trattoria and specially for them the Farmers' market was held in Saturday instead of Monday. And on Sunday, which was the day of the birthday, I was alone in the pastry. The cake had already been made by chef Diego Poli. I had to decorate the small pastries - chocolate petitfours and petitfours with raspberries - and to plate the dessert - blueberry ice cream with vanilla crumble and blueberry sauce. This was was a very nice experience for me and I hope that we helped to make this 3 days unforgettable for all the guests.
